Every lien filed in Marion County is a public record. Sunshine Data analyzed all 24,682 lien filings recorded with the Marion County Clerk of Court since January 2023 to identify who files the most, what types of liens are most common, and what property owners should know.

The table below shows the seven largest lien filers in Marion County by volume. Together, they account for 6,324 filings — approximately 26% of all liens recorded during the period. The remaining 18,358 liens (74%) were filed by thousands of individual filers including contractors, attorneys, banks, private lenders, HOA management companies, and individual property owners. No single filer in that group exceeded 100 filings.

Of those, 6 have been released on record (1.2%). Mechanic's liens are filed by contractors for unpaid work and attach to the property where services were performed.
Oak Run HOAStein Charles + Oak Run Associates Ltd 346 HOA 346 liens filed against homeowners within the Oak Run retirement community for unpaid HOA assessments. One individual, Charles Stein, has filed 180 of these. Approximately 49% have been released, consistent with a pattern of assessment enforcement: file, collect, release.

Sources & Methodology

This analysis covers all lien (LN) filings recorded with the Marion County Clerk of Court from January 2023 through April 2026. Data was obtained via authorized SFTP access to the Clerk's Official Records index. Filer identification was performed by matching party names across lien filings, release filings (REL, LNPD), and Florida SunBiz corporate registrations. Release rates were calculated by matching releases to the same filer name. All data is public record under Florida Statute Chapter 119.
